Today I drove the long drive (7 hours) up to quaint, little Aztec, NM. Nothing beats coming home to a loving family, fresh home made chocolate chip cookies and a wonderful home cooked dinner of steak, corn, and perfectly tart apple sauce! My dad showed me the river park and all he has done in mowing and watering the orchard. My family owns 3 and 1/2 acres of land and have kept up with it beautifully! Almost every single pine tree, cottonwood tree, cherry tree, and apple tree that decorates our front and back yard have been planted by my father.Only a couple of trees near the Animas river are native.
After dinner, my family and I walked a two mile loop around our house. It's a lovely mixture of dirt and paved paths, along a decently sized river, surrounded by sage brush, cottonwood trees, and the flitter flutter of swallows. I've walked, ran, and ridden my bike along this trail several times in my life, as a child, and now as an adult. I embellished every moment of the familiarity of it all. As we walked along the river,a light drizzle of soft rain gently patted our hair and cheeks. In a giddy mood, my sister Amy and I danced, sang, skipped, joked, and spoke in our very untalented Australian accents-- which often leads to us laughing about "winging" and "bogens." Amy is always a delight to be with!
It is weird to be home with the sense of longevity. Usually I am a busy bee, frantically trying to squeeze in visits with old friends, now I'm just simply at peace and perhaps feeling a little melancholy in saying goodbye to my dear friends in El Paso. However, I know this is what the Lord wants for me and feel great assurance in His guiding me thus far. Anyways it's now 10:43pm and I'm wiped out and ready for a good nights rest. I'm hoping to soon find time to post about the different events that have lead me to this specific DTS... soon very soon :0)
Hey, it will be fun to keep in touch with you this way. Enjoy your vacation and your family, hope to see you this summer! Brenda
